The Bamberg potato ((ドイツ語:Bamberger Hörnla)) is an old potato variety from Franconia. The predominantly waxy potato is small with an elongated and crooked form. It has firm light yellow flesh with a nutty aroma. The growing area is predominantly situated in Southern Germany. In the context of return to traditional varieties the Bamberg potato is very popular again. The variety was about to become extinct as cultivation is laborious and yield is rather low. Additionally, the Bamberg potato cannot be harvested by machines. Outside the growing areas these variety can only be bought in delicatessen shops, from specialised traders or in organic grocery stores.
